EngExec

Learn more about this exclusive credential for outstanding leaders.

The Engineering Executive, or EngExec is a credential that recognises pre-eminent individuals in executive positions who have shown exceptional leadership and talent. After an outstanding career which has culminated in a senior leadership position, the receipt of EngExec is the next step in your career.

The EngExec credential isn’t restricted to engineering professionals and can include senior business leaders who work in the engineering sector but aren’t engineers.

Attaining the level of EngExec also presents an opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the future of the Australian engineering profession.

The exclusive nature of the credential means that the opportunity to apply for it is only offered to a select group of individuals on an invitation-only basis.

Eligibility and application process

Eligible applicants will receive a detailed invitation letter explaining how to apply for the EngExec credential.

You don’t need to be a member of Engineers Australia to be invited to apply for EngExec. However if you aren’t already a member, you’ll need to join as an Engineers Australia member during the application process.

Eligibility criteria requires applicants have 15 or more years of industry experience and be in a senior leadership and management role. You’ll also need to be able to demonstrate the required leadership and management competencies for EngExec and complete a self-assessment if you're invited to apply.

If you feel that you meet the criteria for EngExec but haven’t received an invitation, you can email us to express your interest in applying.

Professional interview

A professional interview with an Engineers Australia assessor is the final step to obtaining an EngExec credential.

We’ll be in touch to arrange a time for your professional interview with one of our assessors and you’ll receive an invitation to the online Teams or Skype interview.

The interview will take approximately one hour and will include a broad discussion about your engineering career and your responses to the questions in the self-assessment form.

Application outcome

You’ll receive a confirmation email from us following your interview letting you know the outcome of your EngExec application. The assessor may also tell you the outcome of your application at the end of the interview.

Once successful, you’ll receive the post-nominal of EngExec to use after your name.
